As announced in my last newsletter, the band returned to Japan to celebrate the
30th Anniversary of the original Budokan shows, and performed at the Nippon
Budokan on 24th April. The official website is carrying lots of great photo's
(and a short video snippet) from the show. In addition, the band attended a
press conference at Sony Music the day before, and audio and video of parts of
the conference can also be found via links on the opening page of the official
website. And do visit the official merchandise store via www.cheaptrick.com, as
it is currently taking orders for a special package of the event t-shirt,
programme and keychain that were only sold at the Budokan show. I understand
stocks are limited so don't delay!
The band played a full set at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago on May 7th, to
celebrate the re-opening of that Cafe. In addition, Rick and Robin were at
Myrtle Beach SC on 31st May/1st June to compete in a celebrity golf tournement
that was part of the Grand Opening celebrations of the Hard Rock Park.
Before the encore of their show at De Kalb, IL on 29 March, the band were
presented with the official proclamation of Cheap Trick Day by Illiinois State
Senator Dave Syverson. A picture of the event can be seen on the official
website.
There are a couple of CD releases for collectors to note. on April 23rd, Sony
Japan re-released the "Complete Budokan" double CD set together with a short DVD
of previously released video clips/songs. And in the UK, Sony will be releasing
a 5 CD set on 16th June, comprising of the first three studio albums plus "All
Shook Up" and "Next Position Please". As far as I can tell, the albums are all
original releases without any bonus tracks.
As ever, the official website www.cheaptrick.com is worth checking regularly,
and not only for details of
confirmed tour dates. Several sets of new photos can be found. In addition, the
merchandise store continues to offer a wide range of Cheap Trick goodies
The mailing address for the official fanclub, Trick International is 8225 5th
Avenue #803, Brooklyn, NY 11209,
